About CZ Republic
The Czech Republic is a small landlocked country in Central Europe, situated south-east of Germany and bordering with Austria to the south, Poland to the north and Slovakia (with which it used to form one country of Czechoslovakia) to the south-east. (Total area: 78,866 sq km, Population 10,235,455 (July 2006 est.)). Capital of the country is Prague (population 1.2 million).

Czech Republic is devided into 3 historical regions:
- Bohemia – the western part of the Czech Republic;
- Prague (Praha) – The capital and largest city of the Czech Republic;
- Ceske Budejovice (aka Budweis) – Attractive main city of South Bohemia, home of Budweiser Budvar beer;
- Plzen – Industrial city, birthplace of “Pilsner” beer;
- Cesky Krumlov – Beautiful old town and castle;
- Karlovy Vary (aka “Carlsbad”) – Historic(and biggest Czech) spa resort;
- Tabor – Historic Hussite capital;
- Trebon – Cute old town in South Bohemia surrounded by lovely ponds;
- Terezin – Old fortress, Jewish ghetto during WW2;
- Jicin – Gateway to the “Czech Paradise”- interesting natural sand rock formations;
- Hradec Kralove – East Bohemian city not far from Giant Mountains. Interesting pre-WWII architecture by Gocar;
- Kutna Hora – Historical town with famous St.Barbora cathedral and old silver mines;
- Liberec – Situated in the Jizerske hory and close to the Polish and German borders;
- Pardubice – City in East Bohemia, ice-hockey town;
- Cheb – Historic city in West Bohemia, old castle, originally Slavic settlement but substantial German influence
- Moravia – the eastern part of the country;
- Brno – Largest city in Moravia, Moto GP Grand Prix every year takes place here;
- Olomouc – Vibrating university town; has the 2nd largest historical centre in the Czech Republic;
- Novosedly – Village in the moravian wine region, you can go on a great horseback trip through the vineyards;
- Luhacovice – The largest Moravian spa resort;
- Zlin – City in East Moravia, famous Bata shoe company started and developed here before the WWII. Interesting functionalistic architecture.
- Silesia – the north eastern part of the Czech Republic.
- Opava – Historic and beautiful town close to Polish borders;
- Ostrava – Mostly industial town, world music festival – “Colours of Ostrava” takes place in summer, biggest party venue in the CZR -”Stodolni street”- and still growing;
- Jesenik – Spa and touristic resort (especially in winter);
- Karvina – Spa close to Ostrava;
- Krnov – Border town, biggest Greek community in the Czech Republic;
- Koprivnice – Famous Tatra cars are manufactured there, large museum of automotive.
Instead of these there are 14 political regions subdivided onto districts.
